 My mother's hobby.

       My mother likes a calm environment and many beautiful things. She leads a beautiful life. Her hobby is gardening. It is a very useful hobby. Unlike most of other hobbies, it has many advantages.

     We have enough space in our garden to engage in her hobby. My mother tells, " gardening is regarded as a pleasurable and profitable pastime too." Actually, she is correct. 

                  My mother has planted various kinds of fruits and vegetables in our garden. Some of them are banana, orange, mango, papaw, beans, guava and etc. I like all the fruits and vegetables. My farther also helps her to grow plants. My mother does not use any chemicals or artificial manure because my farther has dug a compost manure pit. 

                 She spends about three hours in the garden everyday. I help her to water the plants and manure her vegetable beds. She pulls out weeds. 

                Because of my mother's hobby, I and my family members can eat fresh fruits and vegetables. And also she earns money by selling them. All the neighbors tell, " it is a nice sight to see fruit trees laden with fruits." therefore we are proud about her hobby. 

                We know that she finds all the characteristics of good hobby in the gardening process. Normally we lead a monotonous life. Gardening gives mental satisfaction too. Human beings are gradually moving away from the nature. Gardening paves us the way to have a close contact with the nature. I and my family members ( mother, farther, brother ) love to spend a lot of time in our attractive garden. If my brother is a lazy boy, he is not lazy for helping my mother. The reason is that he also loves gardening. 

                 Sri Lanka is an agricultural country. Farming is our heritage. So we should love gardening. My mother teaches us many things about gardening. Such as, various kinds of seeds, plants and the correct way of planting trees and using manure. 

               My mother loves the environment and she advices us to love the environment. If I like this hobby, I have not enough time. These days I am busy with my university assignments. However I help her hobby. I admire my mother's hobby.
