My grandfather`s last lesson.


         My grandfather passed away about two years ago.😔 When he was living with us, he taught us about ancient places. I always remember him.💕😟 Because of his teaching, I know about many ancient places. I cannot forget his last lesson. The lesson was about Sigiriya. 


These are the details what I have learnt from him about Sigiriya.

                            " Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress in our beautiful country.💙 It was built by King Kashyapa. It is world famous for its frescoes. 

                               Sigiriya is a place of archaeological and historical value. We can see the graffiti or verses on the mirror wall. These verses had been written by the ancient visitors. These verses help us to learn about the evolution and development of our language. There are nearly 700 such verses on the mirror wall. 

                               King Kashyapa had created such a beautiful fortress with attractive paintings of beautiful ladies.

                               We have to climb up the rock alone a flight of steps through the mouth of a large carved lion. That is why it is called " Sinha giri " or " Sigiri. "

             There are ruins of an ancient palace on the top of the rock. There is also a moat around the rock.

             Sigiriya is regarded as the eighth wonder of the world. Foreign tourists also visit Sigiriya because it is an important place in Sri Lanka.

             Because of my grandfather`s teaching, I have a knowledge about ancient places.😊 If I learn from my grandfather, I cannot learn from him again. I never forget his teaching.💙

 I missed my friend.                          I had a friend. Her name is Ishani. We played together. Ishani has been known to me over ten years. Now she is living in Anuradhapura. She had been living here since her childhood before she left our village. Her farther was working in our village post office. The family loved our village. They were to build a house here. But her farther got a transfer and the family had to move to Anuradhapura. When Ishani was here, she attended the village school. She was my age and we were in the same class. She was my best friend.
